My plant was spun off from GM in 1999. I stood up against concessions, even when it put a target on my back. We still have work left to do on tiers. In many of our contracts, wages still don't keep up with the cost of living.
Members deserve a leader with the integrity to stand up to corporate greed and clean up any remnants of corruption in our Region. I am committed to:
Bargaining strategies that involve and activate our members, rather than shutting them out
Political action in every state to back legislation that supports our members and candidates who fight for the working class
Organizing to grow our region, from manufacturing suppliers to higher education
We CAN’T GO BACK TO THE BAD OLD DAYS.
Unfortunately, our region has had issues with corruption in the past. My opponent, Jimmy Lakeman, has shown with only 8 months in office that he would gladly return to the old ways. Recently, he declared he wants to “honor the legacy” of Joe Ashton, a former UAW officer who went to prison for stealing from our union through a kickback scheme.
I fought for One Member, One Vote because members deserve to choose our leaders and hold them accountable. I'm running to ensure Region 9 serves our locals and our membership, not the other way around.
Voting Information
Ballots were mailed out Friday, August 21st. You should receive your ballot at your home address the week of Monday, August 24th. Cast your vote and return your ballot as soon as possible, in case of a personal emergency or mail delay.
What if I don’t receive my ballot? If you still haven’t received yours by Wednesday, September 2, call 855-433-8683 to request another. This hotline run by the election vendor is open Monday - Friday between 8 am - 8 pm Eastern.
Do I need to cast a vote for every position? No. UAW Region 9 members can vote for one (1) President candidate, one (1) Secretary Treasurer candidate, and three (3) Vice President candidates, in addition to one (1) Region 9 Director candidate. Your vote is your power! But your ballot will still be valid if you abstain from voting for any position.
How do I return my ballot? Place the secret ballot sleeve, containing your ballot, in the U.S. Postal Service business reply envelope included in your ballot package and deposit the envelope in the mail. Postage is already provided.
